Kennedy, D-Mass., Dec. 1st, 2005 Students in many different courses are experiencing the benefits of service learning - of learning beyond the classroom walls. Through service learning, students spend 20 or more hours per semester at community sites gaining understanding of day-to-day issues and contributing to their solutions. This type of hands-on learning can help students:
Learn and Serve America marked a decade and a half of outstanding achievement and progress in service-learning at its 15th Anniversary Symposium and Gala Celebration held December 1, 2005, in Washington, DC. The day-long symposium brought together a variety of voices to share experiences and perspectives and plan for the future.
