Non-Traditional Careers are careers fields which employ 25% or less of
a gender (source: U.S. Department of Labor).
Non-Traditional
careers can lead you to a career opportunity that may develop your interests,
increases your salary, and increase your job opportunities. Discover the

wages: Non-traditional jobs pay 20-30% more on average than traditionally
female jobs
Better
benefits: Non-traditional jobs tend to be unionized, with greater
health benefits, sick leave, life insurance, pension/retirement plans,
and paid vacation.
Opportunity
for advancement: Non-traditional careers tend to have established
career ladders directed at higher job and salary positions. Non-traditional
jobs usually offer paid on-the-job training for advanced skills.
Job
satisfaction: When your abilities and interests fit your career,
you tend to have a higher job satisfaction thus be more productive and
stay in the career longer.
Gender
Equity Program at Kapi`olani Community College
The Gender Equity Program provides services to students accepted into
a non-traditional career program at KCC.
The Gender
Equity Program is a federally funded project that assists students toward
the successful completion of their academic program. Qualified students
must apply with the Gender Equity Program in Kopiko 111.
