"If
I believe I cannot do something,
it makes me incapable of doing it.
But
when I believe I can. . .
The following

multiply, and divide polynomials in one or two variables.
Factor
the greatest common factor from a polynomial expression.
Factor
a polynomial of four terms by grouping.
Factor
general trinomials , where a, b, and c are integers.
Recognize
and factor the difference of two squares.
Recognize
and factor a perfect square trinomial.
Write
rational expressions in lowest terms.
Add, subtract,
multiply, and divide algebraic fractions.
Solve
equations containing rational expressions
Solve

including indirect variation.
Identify
a given radical as rational, irrational, or not real.
Evaluate
a radical expression
Simplify
a radical expression.
Add, subtract,
multiply, or divide radical expressions.
Solve
equations containing radicals.
Solve
word problems that lead to equations containing radical expressions.
Solve
a quadratic equation with integral coefficients by factoring.
Solve
equations of the form , using the square root property of equations.
Complete
the perfect trinomial square given a partial trinomial.
Use the
quadratic formula to solve quadratic equations.
. . .then I acquire the ability to do it. . .
TO BE
SUCCESSFUL IN THIS COURSE YOU MUST
Attend
class regularly. One day covers 1-2 sections of material or more. There
is no repeat performance! Material covered in a day is not repeated
again. Every day there is a new strategy to learn.
Take good
notes. Remember to date your notes. You are expected to have learned
the material covered on any day by the next class meeting or you will
fall behind.
Do math
every day according to the homework criteria. You will not remember
much if you cram. Remember the final is cumulative. Make corrections
next to homework problems. Don't erase mistakes.
Keep organized
by keeping everything in a binder according to the date. Date all your
lecture notes, handouts, and homework.
Instructors
are available for help!! There is a tutor center!! Make an appointment
to conference with the instructor as soon as you "bomb" a
homework assignment, quiz or exam. Don't wait and hope for a miracle!!
There is no extra credit at the end that will save you!!
Don't
fall behind.
. . .even if I did not have the ability in the beginning."
